PENELOPE, formerly the award-winning STAMPEDE, is a true private expedition yacht with a storied pedigree. Originally delivered in 1990 as Princess Gloria, this 105-foot full-displacement Delta was built for safety and efficiency on a proven composite commercial fishing hull. In 2006-2008, she returned to Delta Marine for one of the yard's most personal and extensive transformations: redesigned interiors, her signature blue hull, new teak decking, and a 12-foot length extension that created the fishing cockpit defining her character today. Delta Design Group engineered the cockpit as an exceptional design innovation that actually improved the hull form rather than simply adding length. The result earned both the Fairfax Trophy and Neptune Award for Refit of the Year at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards. She has only ever been used privately, never chartered.
Designed to cross oceans in comfort, Penelope offers an impressive 6,000nm range at 10 knots, burning approximately 32 gal/hr (mains plus single genset) from her 20,000 gallons of diesel. An additional 2,000 gallons of fresh water and a 450-gallon tender refueling station fully support extended operations far from shore.
Her deck layout is all about capability and adventure: cranes for two sizable onboard tenders and a Sea-Doo, a massive livewell, 600 lb/day fishing cockpit ice chipper, boat deck icemaker, and extensive rod and gear storage give her the feel of a serious sportfishing mothership wrapped in an elegant Delta yacht. With capacity for an 18–21' tender aboard and a larger tender in tow, she's built to launch the action far from the mothership and bring it home in comfort.
With more than $14M invested in comprehensive refits since her original build, Penelope combines expedition toughness with a warm, timeless interior, refreshed again with all-new soft goods in 2024 and extensive technical and AV upgrades from 2023–2025 (including new Atlas shore power converter, night generator, updated ice-making and refrigeration, Starlink Maritime x2, and a full AV/CCTV refresh). Outdoor living spaces flow naturally from fishing cockpit to aft deck to skylounge and sundeck, giving guests plenty of room to unwind after a long day in the water.
Elegant, timeless, and undeniably capable, Penelope is that rare sub-50m explorer that feels like a private family expedition ship: designed to go where others can't, stay longer once you get there, and bring you home in safety and style.
